Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy explains how Gele ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application (the "App") and this website. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. Who we are
Gele is operated by the team behind gele.app. We are based in the United Kingdom and Nigeria. Reach us any time at support@gele.app.
2. What we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address, an encrypted password (we never see the plaintext), and an optional display name.
Portraits you upload
When you take a selfie or pick a portrait from your photo library, the image is uploaded to our private storage so we can generate a try-on. Portraits are stored in a private bucket scoped to your account.
Generated try-on images
Each time you render a try-on, the resulting image is stored in your private renders bucket and a record is kept linking the gele style and fabric you chose, the prompt sent to the image model, and the time of generation.
Saved looks ("Lookbook")
When you save a pairing of gele + fabric we record the IDs of those choices and a timestamp.
App preferences
We store your preferences such as notification on/off, render quality, and haptic feedback toggle.
Diagnostic logs
We log basic, non-personal information such as crash stack traces and the success or failure of try-on renders. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. We do not collect your device's advertising identifier.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the try-on service: generating images of you wearing geles.
- To save your lookbook and credits across devices.
- To send you essential service email (account confirmation, password reset).
- To send optional notifications, only when you've enabled them.
- To investigate abuse and keep the service safe.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Who we share with
We use a small number of trusted service providers:
- Supabase hosts our database, authentication, file storage, and edge functions. (supabase.com/privacy)
- fal.ai performs the image-generation that creates your try-on. We send a signed URL of your portrait and the prompt; fal.ai returns the generated image. (fal.ai/privacy)
- Resend delivers transactional email from noreply@gele.app. (resend.com/legal/privacy-policy)
- Apple (App Store) — payments for credit packs are processed by Apple. We don't see your payment details.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers.
5. Legal basis (UK / EEA)
Where applicable we rely on (a) contract — we need your information to provide the try-on service you requested; (b) consent — for optional notifications and access to your camera or photos; and (c) legitimate interests — to keep the service safe and free of abuse.
6. How long we keep it
- Account data — until you delete your account.
- Portraits — until you delete the render or close your account.
- Generated images — until you remove them from your lookbook or close your account.
- Diagnostic logs — up to 30 days.
7. Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Access a copy of your data — email us.
- Correct your display name and email — in Profile.
- Delete your account and all associated data — Settings → Delete account.
- Withdraw consent for notifications — Settings.
- Object or restrict processing — email us.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the UK that's the ICO (ico.org.uk).
8. Security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Storage buckets and database tables are protected by row-level security so that you can only access your own data. We will never email you to ask for your password.
9. Children
Gele is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent age of digital consent in your country). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. International transfers
Our servers are hosted in the European Union (Supabase region: eu-west-1). When you use the Service from outside the EU your information will be transferred to our EU servers under appropriate safeguards.
11. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change. Material changes will be flagged in the App. The effective date at the top reflects the latest revision.
